Interview with Faith Begbie

Faith, thank you for joining us.

Tell us about what Faith Clothing is all about.

Thanks for giving me this opportunity James! Faith Clothing is a clothing line that I started in March of this year. Faith Clothing raises awareness for mental health by donating 40% of merchandise profit to local mental health clinics and hosts music festivals that donate 15% of ticket profit as well. Faith Clothing is not only a clothing line raising awareness but I’ve worked hard to turn it into a support group for those going through difficult times. Everyone who supports Faith Clothing supports respect, openness and is passionate about making a change in the mental health community.

Your upcoming show features bands Casket, This Burning City, Of Vices & Vultures, Small Town Vernacular, Us With Wolves, Contempt, Vickie Vale and Rats HC. A little bit of everything for everybody, basically! What is the goal with this show?

The goal of this show is to raise money for mental health and again, create that feeling of support. When people come to the Festival of Hope, not only are they there to hear some really talented musicians, but they’re also there to support Faith Clothing and to donate to mental health clinics.

It’s almost perfect that your name is Faith, as that is what people really need when it comes to mental health issues. How can people get involved with what you do or help out in some other way?

Haha, thank you! I totally agree! People can get involved by liking our Facebook page (facebook.com/faithbclothing) and sharing our events! You can also get involved by coming out to our events or by purchasing some Faith Clothing product! Even talking about us to your friends is involving yourself.

What kind of products are available through Faith Clothing and where can we pick some up?

Faith Clothing has t-shirts, tank-tops and hoodies right now. I’m hoping to get some things like beanies and windbreakers out in the near future. If you go on our Facebook page (stated above) and send a message, we will work out an order as everything is preordered! I run the page so you will be speaking with me personally!

What has the reaction been since you started this? Have organizations jumped on board?

When I started Faith Clothing, I was overwhelmed with the amount of support people have given me. Not only friends and family, but strangers and role models of mine shared and follow my business. I’ve had members (former and present) from Being As An Ocean and Hotel Books, for example, support what I’m doing and ask for merchandise. Schools and local clinics have jumped on board to help me with Faith Clothing by sharing my events and asking me to sell merchandise at their events.

Is it just you doing all of this fundraising for the Canadian Mental Health Association?

I’m sure other businesses fund some money for CMHA but as far as I know, I am the only one. I have major respect for anyone who is raising awareness whether it’s as a business or individually!

Are there any other shows in the works to help this great cause?

I hold Festivals of Hope every few months so there will certainly be others in the future! As it comes to other promoters and show, not that I know of! But it’s what makes Faith Clothing unique and makes our relationship with our customers more personal.

Faith, thank you so much for joining us and we will help support the cause any way we can.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity and supporting me! Also, thank you to everyone else who has supported my business and myself.
