We’re excited to premiere the brand new track ‘By The Millimetre’ by local multi-instrumentalist Merganzer today on Showbox. Merganzer is the experimental music project of Mika Posen, who has past collaborations with artists such as Timber Timbre, Agnes Obel, Feist, Evening Hymns, Zeus, The Wooden Sky, Andy Shauf, Basia Bulat, and The Weather Station, among others.

“By The Millimetre” is the second single off of Merganzer’s second full-length record called Montage, out October 18th on So Sorry Records. The song begins with the delicate layering of violin and piano, both performed by Posen herself. It diverges slightly from the debut title track off of Montage, with which Posen took a more drawn-out, ambient approach. “By The Millimetre” is an exploration and expansion of the neo-classical style that Merganzer has garnered notoriety for over the past several years. However, unlike past releases, Posen performs all parts throughout the album—including violin, viola, cello, piano, and effects.

Montage is a rumination about place and self, an atmospheric rendition of transition, and an impression of the idea of home,” says Posen.

Merganzer has a few upcoming shows to highlight the release of Montage. The Ottawa release show takes place on October 25th at Club SAW with guests Paper Beats Scissors, who will be playing songs from their new LP ‘Parallel Line.’

So Sorry Records is also offering an exclusive shipping deal if the album is picked up at The Record Centre.
