The first snowfall of the year hit Ottawa today, but there’s still plenty to be excited about—not least of which is the new single “Black Coffee” by Ottawa’s own soul/R&B outfit Good Advice.

Good Advice is a relatively new group in town, and they’ve released a handful of catchy singles and a few funky covers of artists like Chaka Kahn and The Isley Brothers. They’re live performances are high-energy and channel the heart and soul of their musical influences directly into the crowd. The group is part of a growing soul/R&B scene here in town. They join the ranks of acts like Slack Bridges, Harea Band, Subtle Curves, and, of course, The Soul Jazz Orchestra, and are helping to put Ottawa on the map.

We’re excited to premiere their latest single “Black Coffee,” which is their biggest banger to date. It’s laden with smooth bass lines, percussion that pops, and explosive horns. Not to mention lead vocalist Alison Snedker’s powerful, soaring vocals that really ties the track together from start to finish.

Have a listen below, or check them out on Spotify here. Although they just played their single release party at Babylon last week, keep an eye out for this band’s next gig. It’s one you’re not going to want to miss.
